One Health Therapy is the initiative of Dr. Ronan O' Neill, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. He attained his Psychology BA degree, 1st class (Hons) from DBS, and then graduated from his Masters in Philosophy in Psychoanaltyic-Studies (M.Phil), from Trinity College in 2012. He continued his post-graduate studies for a number of years in London and completed his Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from City, University of London (2016), approved by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), the statutory regulator for Practitioner Psychologists in the Uk, and accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Ronan is a member of the The Irish Psychological Society (PSI), The British Psychological Society (BPS) and The Division of Counselling Psychologists (DCoP). He is also a registered member with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Ronan has worked and supported diverse groups of people having gained considerable experience in a wide range of clinical sectors. Through-out his doctoral training at City, University London, he completed several placements within Ireland, working primarily with adults supporting their individual life challenges focusing on trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment, addiction and suicidality, amongst other mental health difficulties. His clinical training was integrative to include, humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamic perspectives. He is currently providing adult autism assessments from a neuro-diversity affirmative approach. This paradigm understands and places the Autistic person's experiences and Autistic neurotype central to their identity as a positive way of being and interacting in the world. He is a clinical specialist in Autism, administering ADOS-2, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2nd edition Assessments and trained in Autism Clinical Interview for Adults (ACIA) from Newcastle University Uk,
Continuous learning is essential to Ronan's professional development. He recently completed additional training on Autism, trauma, personality, and completed in-depth courses from The Open College and The British Psychological Society on 'Building Awareness of Adult Autism, 'Supporting Autistic Adults, and Providing Psychological Support Work with Autism. He further undertook and completed comprehensive training and substantial reading in the Neuro-Affirmative Autism Assessment approach, from several sources to include; 'The Adult Autism Practice', 'The Zur Institute' and the PESI non-profit organization on affirming neurodiversity with strengths and abilities based interventions. He completed further professional development in the diagnosis and best practice treatment of ADHD with Kings College London. He is a full member of several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within the Psychological Society of Ireland.
